Volunteer Mentoring Partnership

Wellness Inc., National Organization of Concerned Black Men, Inc., and The National African American Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. have collaborated to deliver a Volunteer Mentoring Partnership (VMP) program for youth between the ages of 13 - 21 in the District of Columbia’s Foster Care System. The Partnership serves 40 youth from January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007. Mentors are at least 21 years of age and pass extensive federal background checks. Mentors meet with mentees a minimum of two (2) face-to-face activities for a total of 4 hours per month. Additionally, mentors conduct weekly phone or email communications with their mentee(s). Participants are matched with qualified mentors that are there to protect, instruct, nurture and discipline ---to trust, share, honor, and above all --- to be there when needed.
